Dollar Store workers organizing with Step Up Louisiana worked with the Center for Popular Democracy to come up with a transformational set of safety demands that we want to sit down at the table with Dollar General and Dollar Tree corporate to discuss. These can also be a model for other retail workers who have safety from physical violence needs in their stores.

By sharing our stories, Dollar Store workers have let the world know about the low pay and unsafe working conditions we deal with every day. From rallies and testifying in Washington DC to national media coverage like Inside Edition, a Bloomberg Businessweek cover story, and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver we are building power.

Customers in 9 states joined Dollar Store workers to lift up our demands in 2024. Workers outside of Louisiana including in Tennessee and South Carolina have begun to speak up as well. Massive OSHA settlements at both Dollar General and Dollar Tree illustrate the scale of the problem.
